“Bernard asked what he'd be down for, then asked after the dog's fence panel; Ravi chose the post over the answer.”

The call

Oldest line at the top; it reads downward like a script.

Ravi Kowalski Hello, this is Ravi Kowalski from Fenwick Ghyll Interior Bureau — we're calling because the whole team here has an arrangement we'd like to put in front of you.
Bernard Fenwick Ghyll, you say. Well, that's a nice name for a place. Now, is this the one about the gutters? Only I had a young man about the gutters last week and I've been thinking about it ever since.
Ravi Kowalski No gutters, I promise — they made me team leader on Monday, so this comes from all of us. The arrangement is one coal bunker and one tin of paint, paired.
Bernard Congratulations, that's lovely news. A coal bunker and a tin of paint, paired — paired how, exactly?
Ravi Kowalski A coal bunker and a tin of paint in one arrangement, which we think stands up better than either on its own. Now, people do say the two have nothing to do with each other — and honestly, that's fair.
Bernard Oh, I'd have to think about that. You see, I can't keep coal anywhere it'd get damp, because of the boiler clicking itself awake at night and giving me the frights. Should the paint go on the bunker, then?
Ravi Kowalski Paint on the bunker is a perfectly sensible reading of it, and we'll note that down. So if you're happy, can I put you down for the bunker-and-paint arrangement?
Bernard Well, that's very good of you, and I'm very interested. Hang on a moment, would you — I've just got to look at something in the hall. Now then. What was it again that I'd be down for?
Ravi Kowalski The coal bunker and the tin of paint, one arrangement. If it helps, we can escalate it to the whole team, as a kindness.
Bernard That's kind, but I don't want to be a bother to a whole team. Does the paint come in a colour that'd sit nicely next to a fence panel? The dog leans on mine and it's looking a bit sorry.
Ravi Kowalski I'll send it in the post instead. Save us both the trouble. Goodbye.
